Dining In: Wilmington, NC - Dock Street Oyster Bar

Girls trip to Wilmington meant that we had to get some seafood! For this post I'll just leave you with pictures because they speak for themselves.

1/2 dozen raw oysters.

Mango-Habanero Mussels.

Steamer Platter!

I promise I will get back to cooking soon. We've just been traveling too much to have even one night in, but that will change this summer. I have many post-it marked cookbooks just waiting to be explored!

Have a great weekend!

Memorial Day Feast

My two friends from college visited during this Memorial Day weekend and of course it was filled with eating!

My current addiction is Camembert cheese from Whole Foods, which is imported from Europe (yes, they are back in stock).

The Husband found me some white anchovies, which we now will need to have continuously stocked in our fridge. White anchovies with grilled romaine with shaved parmesan and olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar. Delish!

The Husband channeled his inner Bobby Flay and roasted sweet corn and poblano peppers on our gas stove. This was then pureed into a sauce that was poured over some pan-seared chilean sea bass. Underneath you'll see the purple asparagus that has been shaved (hence no longer purple) and blanched.

Basil pesto with homemade fettucini pasta.

Homemade taro ice cream (again!).

Needless to say, it was an amazing Memorial Day feast. Thank goodness we were running around town all weekend to burn off some calories!

Have a delicious Monday!

Dining In: Durham, NC - East Coast Chinese Food Express

Anyone who knows us in Durham will have definitely heard of the chinese place inside the Krogers (no, not next to the Kroger, inside of it). This is our go-to Asian food place when we are too lazy to drive to Cary or Raleigh. With prices that can't be beat and fairly spot on flavors - why not have some chinese takeout?

I was highly skeptical on my first visit since this place is seriously inside the Kroger grocery store next to the Coinstar and the feminine hygiene products. But, those who have been brave enough to order from here have not been disappointed.

They have various items written only in Chinese, which I have my parents decipher each time that they visit. Otherwise, you can point at the random pictures or English names of dishes that most commonly grace the menus of chinese take out places. The husband wife duo have been here for 11 years, which must mean something.

Salt and pepper pork ribs.

Sichuan Chicken and Eggplant.

Hong Kong Style Wonton Soup.

**Edit

The Husband was sad that there was no happy statement so here goes:

Have a happy Memorial Day weekend. Thank you for all our service men and women who have fought to keep us safe and free.

No posts for a while as we'll be in AUSTIN!
